Blyth Pier

Hope this works, my first ever post!

Went to Blyth Pier tonight for a couple hours, small flatties and even smaller coalies being caught but nothing else. Think I got there at the wrong time the tide was racing out and there was lots of weed pulled at least one bit of weed in every second cast.

A few lads out there for the night so hopefully they will do better as darkness arrives.

We were down the beach m8 and had the same issue with weed.

Considered moving to pier to see if was any better, but after reading your report, it seems the Argentina game and a couple of cans was the right decision.. :)

Welcome aboard

Cheers lads. Agreed catching anything is good fun, I know I've blanked more than most. Coming together now though. River Tyne at the weekend.

New to the area (and the forum) after being land locked for many years, tried Blyth pier first a couple of Saturdays ago and there was nothing but a few hand sized flaties caught then, was crossing my fingers that it would pick up as I still dont know any good marks yet between Cullercoats and Blyth?

Blyth Pier

Eventually got back there last Friday (27th). Lots and lots of Mackerel. Great fun and a good atmosphere. Seemed to be umpteen methods employed, lures and floats being the main ones. Spells of fish being caught by spells of nothing. The float lads were saying that they had not caught as many on floats so early in the season? Not something I've heard before but not a method I use much. I'm a social fella but I think my next trip will be an early tide on a school day but as I said good fun at the time.

Not a fish caught. Gill nets from the beach to the end of the pier. They were 500 yds out and followed the curve of the pier. He was catching of course. From a distance the fish he pulled looked like salmon or sea trout? Anyway very disappointing given the ideal conditions.

I fished it at dawn on monday, fish and bird life everywhere. As soon as the boats came out with the nets they buggered off. Was entertaining watching and hearing them having a domestic on the boat, thought they were going to end up scrapping and almost shouted do they want the number of a marriage counsellor :D
