fished blyth pier yesterday with my son and nephew , i mannaged a saucer sized place early i thought for those and a coaly enjoyed the day its not all about getting the bigguns, kids faces did it for me .
 
aye seems early, their showing further down but norm spring in to summer for plaice, it wasnt a flounder with orange spots was it because seen many mistaken for plaice?? well done tho bud on catchin

Aye, it's sometimes difficult to distinguish plaice & flounders this time of year but they are about. I've had two from blyth pier but that was early January. They should be out in deeper water spawning now returning late April but I guess the littluns must stay local - who knows with this funny weather!!!!

The best way to identify plaice from flounders I find, is to look at the size of their tail Plaice have a much smaller slim tail than flounders.

:DNice one Gaham(codman40), at least you had a good day wiv da yungun's m8!, well done on the plaice, you didbetter than me @ w/end, only managed 3 whitey's and 1 flatty, all well undersize(returned of course);)
