Well obviously I can't offer any advice but Lynn has asked me to reply on her behalf!

"This year, 12/20lb is plenty. Simple rig, two size 6 hooks above at least an 12oz weight baited with a whole squid or a length of mackerel. If that doesn't work a string of hokkies tipped with a bit of squid, mackerel or cooked whole prawns. Still no fish, then change to the shads you have there with a 3 foot trace under the weight..........Works for me, but unfortunately somehow doesn't work for Mark!! :D:D"

Lynn :)

PS And a packet of "Kwells" and don't bevvy the night before!! Good luck, looking forward to the report.

Hi mike everything you have there will be ok and will catch fish.
I know you don't normally catch fish so this will be a surprise.
I personally will use the 20/30lb class rod just incase we go wrecking.
As for being sea sick take 2 sea leg tablets and some ginger snaps to eat and you will be fine.
Roll on Saturday

Cheers Stevie mark and Lynn to be honest I will take Lynn's advice as the other 2 don't seem to catch sorry boys only joking

Here is what I bought off the Jester, well without the shiny bits above the hook.

They caught me a 7.5lb Pollock, a few Cod and a Haddock. No idea where to buy them, but Jester will help you I am sure.

A few months ago me and my friend bought a 17' flyer. He's been taking advantage of having the sea on his doorstep and seaworthy boat. Lead weight and feathers and he is bagging up.
I went out with him for less than 2 hours, my nephew had a cod and a flat fish, I had 2 whiting and a pollock. My friend had a belter of a cod.
He said that was the worst day out as he's been getting numerous mackeral and other fish.
Brginners luck probably

Hi toonyboy, unfortunately I cant get up this year from the south east(our lass is not very well)ive got loads of gear in the shed gathering dust,if you pm me address mate I will post you some gear first thing for your trip out, there is a catch though when im up there next you buy me a greggs cheese and onion stottie to take to that trip to st abbs, cheers chris:D

yes as already mention in above posts what you have in pics will do fine.
If your ground fishing keep it simple, a string of hokkais or daylites will be fine baited with mackerel strip of which there is plenty in the sea and you'll soon find out the first time you drop the daylites down unbaited :)

good luck mate.
