As a boat newbie looking for a trip out, what do I need to take/have??

Do the boats supply the rods*/tackle*/bait included in the price and talking of price what is the ballpark figure, per person, that I should expect to pay for three of us to join a boat party, for say, a morning weekend session or perhaps a midweek evening session ??

Thanks.

*I have none of this stuff.

I’ve never been out on a charter so you may need someone to give extra detail, but…
Some charter boats have rods and reel to hire have a look on UK Charter Boats - sea angling and fishing trips or similar. A trip out will cost upwards of £20 for an evening or upwards of £35~40 for a day; faster boats on longer trips burn a lot of fuel so will cost you more. You’ll be lucky to find three spaces free for a weekend unless booked well in advance or booked later to cover a cancellation.

You’ll need your own terminal tackle and plenty of it, 15 big leads and traces sounds about right. If the mackerel aren’t in yet, add a mixture of bait to your box. While you’re pacing, add in some shads, swivels line, knife, bag and all the usual incidentals. You’ll also want some warm, waterproof clothing, sun-cream, food and drink and maybe sea sickness tablets.
