Boat rescue register

Was browsing around the net as you do looking for something and came across this voluntary register of your craft.

The information is to help the rescue services in the event that you get into trouble and even includes jet ski's and canoes.

Worth filling in IMHO. ( and free)

Have mentioned the CG66 before Dave.....It costs nowt, you aren't gonna get into trouble if you've certain safety equipment missing off the form (although we would have a quiet word to say that you should have what evers missing, for your benefit).
Just think for a moment as a boat owner if you do get into difficulties out at sea, you have no radio, no flares etc so can't tell anyone whats happened. However youre 5 hours overdue to return to shore and your wife is concerned. She calls the coastguard and the operator says " right mrs, what's the name of the boat"?

'Wife' - " I don't know"
'Coastguard' - " Do you know what colour the boat is?"
'Wife'- " No"
'Coastguard' - " Does the boat have a cabin, Do you know how big it is, does it have an inboard or outboard engine, what safety equipment does it have on board, how many people usually go out on it"?
'Wife'- "I don't know".

So you can see when the emergency services are called out to search for you, they have nothing to go on to seperate you from all the other vessels out there.
