I have just booked on the JFK today for this friday, might be a spare spot. Its looking ok weather with 6mph west winds and small tides, things looking good if they dont change.

ok mate ..i might give alan a ring ive heard and read he is a good skipper.its my first time out on a boat just trying to suss out what to take bait and kit wise? im sure if i forget something i wont forget it next time..ha
cheers

In my opinion alan is the best from the Tyne but all of the skippers catch fish. If you do make it out Friday then i dont mind helpping you out on the day, with things like what to use and when etc, it will all come to you quick once you see how others do it.

The water is cleaning up very nice so the mackerel will be in better numbers, bait wise i would only get some squid. Tackle wise 10oz pirks in silver or orange have been workign well for the cod as well as many types of shads and twin tails.

For ling if the drift is slow use a baited flowing trace (heavy snood line for the teeth) or a simple way is a set of daylights cut in two with a large 1/4 of a mackerel on each hook.

If the weather dont change its looking very good for Friday.

nice one northeast,,i will give alan a ring tonight to see if there is a free slot,,cheers for the offer of help i will most certainly need some,,i will try and get some gear tomorow and see if alan has a rod/reel i clould loan on the day,
cheers again
