Out on the jfk nxt Saturday and was wondering if theres been much getting caught at the minute? Jus wondering if its a bit early on in year, beats sitting on coast tho catching whiting I suppose lol

I know mate fingers crossed but like I say jus sick of feeding all these fish with my bait its costing a fortune, been spending an avge £20 jus to hope for a non showing cod lol

Cheers jester, got plenty macky jus gna get box of squid, hope for best not expecting much but will defo b a regular thing this year

My brother has been out today he only took hokkias and jiggers he did 8 wrecks upto 9 mile out all he had was 2 pollock upto 4lb and a whiting so i would deff take bait squid would be my choice along with a bag of satsumas

Chris
I would take more than just one box of squid as each squid is one bait. You need to change it each time you wind in or drift again to keep max chance of catching fish. Once the smell has washed out you will just be hoping for a fish to see your bait. Have a great day.

I cheers lads, jus hope not a blank as one the lads thats coming has never been on a boat so would like him to catch something at least, squid the best bet then? What bout rag/lug/mussel?

Take a variety Chris, theres nothing worse than other anglers catching fish with a bait you have'nt got, like Deano say's take some orange peel as well it works for him :);)

Right i explain to best i can a lot of fish on both wreck and reef feed on squat lobsters which are small and Orange in colour which is why lads in the north east tend to use Orange pirks etc how ever it is very hard to get the colour of the lobster spot on and the closest i have came is Orange peel its best worked with a slow steady jig not too fast as it pulls the peel off your hook i once experinented and only baited 2 hokkias with the peel and left one bare dropped down and bang 2 cod both on the peel nowt on the bare it doesnt always work but it catches more times than it dont now i never leave without it,plus if your thirsty you can just eat the Orange after LOL good luck

Haha I like that one, im gna use it when people say im that tight id peel an orange in my pocket! Got reason to now, save on expensive bait lol

funnily enough as just read an article in this months carpworld mag about driyng orange peel in the oven before grinding it up to add to a bollie mix so if it works for carp why not sea fish
