Just come back from two weeks camping in South Wales - first a 3 day stint in Tenby where it absolutely hammered down to the extent where our brand spanking new tent got soaked so badly that it leaked
Nice socks eh? It did stop raining long enough for us to go out and about and even go to Oakwood Theme Park
Anyway after 3 days there we moved on to our next destination of the Gower Peninsula. I'd done all my research and checked welsh angling forums and by all accounts it looked like a very promising part of the world for some excellent fishing...
We got there and the weather changed totally - it was scorchio scorchio scorchio !!

The local area was beautiful too....
Ramsgrove Bay - 1 mile walk downhill from campsite.....seemed like a 2 mile walk coming back tho
Excellent rocky gullies and pebble beach...I fished here two nights running and caught 3 fish in total - I freelined sandeel around the various spots until something took the bait. caught two very good scrapping mackerel and one feisty Pollack
Everwhere was a walk - very limited car parking as the whole of the Gower is a nature reserve...
That didn't stop us getting to this little pearler of a beach though - Mewslade
An excellent venue for bodyboarding - which I must confess took up about 90% of my time there....
I did take my rod both days we were there and tried spinning etc but nothing was taking...I saw one guy ledgering sandeel and he was catching very very small Turbot so the next day I gave it a go and caught myself my very first dogfish!!!!
It was a great scrap on my light rod - alas I have no picture of that as I was waste high in water wearing a wetsuit

All in all an excellent holiday - not as much fishing as I would have liked but I would def go back there again and would also recommend it as the area looks amazing for surf fishing and also rock fishing
