After my last session at Roker i had to make some kind of bounce back so decided on the good old BA site. Set the sat nav for Frasers and got £6 worth of rag but to be honest i did,nt really need it. Macky was the bait of the day. I caught over a dozen in four hours. Also had some company with a couple of seals on opposite bank. Looked like a mum and her pup.

Used two rods and as soon as tide started to come up had this double shot.

Best fish of the day was this fella.

A canny afternoon of fishing with some good company a lad called Steve who was using fresh crab which the mackeral was totally outfishing on this day. Still had to go early so Steve got my spare worm and macky.
Tight lines Mick.

Well done mick !!

You know wen i was a kid 10 years ago the flatties we caught were all bin lids about 2 inches thick using rag onlyseems strange that theyve all dissapeared so quick

Just wondering, do you guys ever keep flatties out of the river? I never do but was just wondering where the big ones had been going lol

Fatties are a slow growing species and a lot of people don't return the small ones or they are too deep hooked to return not sure why any one would want to keep a flounder as they don't make a good eating fish

Ive never kept a flattie in my life mate theyre crap eating just sayin 10 years ago we neer caught a fish smaller than say 1lb they were all massive

Not saying that you have kept them just a lot of people do including some lads I've fished with but not sure why may be as a trophy to show the wife and as they grow slowly the more that are taken from the river the less chance of catching big ones

I do not keep any of the Flounders. I would imagine they taste awful so far up river. Most are easily unhooked and returned safely. Some are deep hooked and i usually cut the hook. All returned to the water and swim off.

been down to have a look at this mark a few months back mick was just wondering how much time ya get to fish this for a safe release for the fish as when i was there it was about three hours off high tide and the water was still a fair way out. I did notice a place where there is a water outlet and a gulley created by it that you could release safely with a drop net but is this outlet always flowing. cheers in advance mate

Good sesh mate, cant beat maccy for flattys in the river. I fish there a canny bit as it's local, but never seen any seals there before! Bonus!
