I had a group out fishing the Baltic on Wednesday and a girl and her dad both caught a brown trout on rag worm. This is the first I've ever witnessed. Just wondered how many others have done this before?

alreet wor lad the fish caught at the baltic would of indeed been a seatrout on its way back upstream they will often take a bait out of aggression especially wriggley ragworms, it would have looked like a brown trout as its the same species the only difference is its turned migratory as a large percentage do, hope this gives you a bit info regards korky.

It will probably been a Seatrout "kelt" on its way back to sea, they will take anything when they are in the estuary.
If it was about 9 inches long it might have been a smolt on its way to sea, they look like a browny.....

One of the lads i was fishing next to in a compo few seasons back caught a sea trout on rag worm from Sansend beach. It looked just like a blue trout they stock in the reservoirs. He believe he was using ragworm.
Mick.

It was a smolt. Seems a very weird subject this sea trout/brown trout thing. It still had all it's colours of a browny as apparently they don't change colour until they hit the sea. Great to see though as first time it's happened on my projects.
