I,ve tried my hardest today to try and catch one of these. Was on the river Derwent 12 pm til 4pm at Allensford-no luck.
Went home had me tea then went down to the little ford at Shotley. Was stocked recently for a junior competition. Fished from 6 pm till 9 45 pm loads little ones jumping out on the river and saw one about 1lb jump out right next to me. Tried black flys different sizes something had a sniff at one of the bigger flies but spat it out.
No luck well i think it was £6 well spent for a day.
I prefer the resevoir.

try cow green if its brownies your after, heaps of em. mostly half pound ish, some 1 to 2lbers but there's some lunkers in there sa well if you know hoe to get em,

£8 in the honesty box for 16 (I think!) fish and not a rainbow in sight

Hi Mick,

The River Derwent is stuffed with browns at the minute. The top method by far and my favourite for river browns is the simple 'Klink and Dink' method. It involves using a Klinkhammer dry fly on the top and a smaller R32 nymph tied New Zealand style to that. Simply cast upstream and keep mending the line to stop the flies dragging.

If this isn't successful, the Czech Nymphs always work in the deeper water. If you need any more advice, just send me a message!
