First trip out this year, 4 of us aboard, headed out of Amble marina about 10am. Headed for the island and just drifted south towards Cresswell. kev was more or less straight into a fish, but his reel started to play up. as he struggled to bring it in i got a cod around the 3lb mark. when his finally surfaced, he was rewarded with a lovely cod just over 13lb.
With a great start we thought we were in for a great day, but the rest of the day was hard going. we ended up with 10 cod, 1 ling and a makeral. most the cod were around 2.5lb to 4lb and burnt heeds.

probably about 1/4 of a mile south, about level with the back of island.

That's a nice fish nice to know there are some gooduns around the island.
The mackerel seem to be getting closer all the time too, havn't had a ling yet , is there a method for catching them?

no differrent from fishing for cod really, that cod was caught on feathers baited with squid.
