Had the whole day free, so decided to try some new marks.
Popped into moonflet early for some bait then headed up to st marys. started fishing in crisps gulley with ragworm on the float about 10am. Got nothing at all. The water was very dark, so that maybe had something to do with it. The island was rammed with tourists and getting busier by the minute so packed up at 12. After a minging cheese pasty for lunch from blyth petrol station, I went up to cambois beach.
I set up at the north end near the Wansbeck mouth about 1pm
On the way down I briefly spoke to a couple of guys who'd been spinning for bass in the surf, turned out to be 'marksworld' from here. It did look good for bass but they hadn't been successful. I was hoping for bass, but happy enough fishing for flatties, I got off to a promising start with this flounder in the first 10 mins
But took about 2 hours to get another, which was the smallest flounder ive had
another 2 hours with nothing, so moved round to the Wansbeck as the tide came up, about an hour there and got this double sider
gave up and went home about 6pm. It was a nice day to be out on the beach, but was a bit disappointed to only get 3 fish all day. Might go back again though, try for bass..
