Cambois Ramp Tonight.

Started off around 8pm. Nothing much doing. Moved onto the ramp at high water and caught a few small Coalies. Then at 1am got a huge knock. I struck and knew instantly it was big. I havent caught a fish big enough to keep for ages so was getting really excited. Got it to the side and saw the flash of white, brought it up only to discover it was a huge Eel!! Got another cracking bite at around 1.30am but didnt land it. Had another 2 Coalies and then my night was ended horribly.

I heard a load of noise. Thought it might be birds. Turned my headlamp on and had 6 or 7 rats around my feet. They frozefor what felt like an age but was probably only a few seconds and then ran off under the rocks.

Will never fish there again at night after that.

sounded like an enjoyable session until your encounter with the local wildlife, though its arguable that its not worse than some of the company you have to share blyth pier with.
See if there's something you can put down around you to keep them away next time ( obviously not poison ) possibly a geet big viscous cat.

i sould of stayed with my big size 11's to get rid of the rats. u should of used them as bait to see if you got any bites. lol.

Seen them there a few times, also at frenchmans and also had small mice nicking my bait from the canch shelf at Horden.

cambois ramp is always rife with rats m8, dont worry its not u they r after lol just keep all bait in a bucket with a lid & a fish bag with a zip 4 any fish u keep.
first time i fished the ramp many years ago i was defrosting crab in a tub of water but kept loosing them & could'nt understand where they were going until i got my eye on the theif.

Lot around this year, we used to keep/breed pet rats, but this year we've had loads of wild ones in the garden (air pistol and vermin control hollow point slugs do the trick). Remember my lad as a bairn commenting on a cute 'bunny' at shields one time - biggest rat i've ever seen!
