Anyone got experience of either of these rods and have opinion on what best for pulling through rougher ground, kelp etc - appreciate any opinions?

Crest is the stiffer of the range ideal for rough ground my mates us them,I loved my expresses for clean beach work :-)

Yeh I have cm express good for beach but not good for rough stuff mate being a softer c curve rod crest is j curve much stiffer more for rough ground

Crest is a C-Curve if you cast it right :p IIRC it's built on the same mandrel as the CME (both are 13' 10" and 25mm butt diameter) but is stiffer in the mid-section and much stiffer in the butt. Both great rods, I started out casting on the CME and did my first 200 metre chuck, moved on to the Crest and did my pb 224 metres (245 yards) with one.

CME is a great allrounder and will handle everything but rough ground pretty well. Nice to cast, very forgiving and has OK bite detection if not great. Sits well in the wind and tide, its biggest downfall is that it is a very heavy rod.

Can't speak for the standard CM, they are shorter at 13' 6" but I've never cast (or fished) one
