Been doing wings myself and tried them last night with fresh crab and had a decent whiting. Tried frozen blacks and cart too and had bites also. I prefer the wings myself as there a lot better to tie on etc but I have also made some sausages with the pre coral I got out the crab before I took the wings out but I'm keeping them for when the sea comes away and a little later in the year.
To be honest lads don't you think it a little over rated yes it does have its day when sea is mazzive but I have had all my good cod on river crab and mussle and crab cock tails and other stuff and I salt mine too I have noticed that too much salt makes them too tuff and after casting them out they come back in the same way so I fine only a little salt is better so I can brake down in the water to give off more wiff for the fish to eat , and leaves a better trail but like I say people have there own ways which you have to respect
Every bait has its day - I'd rather have a bucket full of big live cock peelers or snake whites. The cart I've used is great for getting the initial bite but washes out far too quickly. It's a cocktail bait in my eyes.

Personally find cart works best in coloured water over rough ground. I always use it in a cocktail, usually with blacks. Fresh peelers will outfish it most times up till end of November but does seem to winkle out a few better fish.
so does it have to still be frozen when you stick it on? or does it hold together if you wrap elastic round it - tempted to grab some and give it a try.
Yes mate still frozen when you tie it on your hook. Keep it frozen in flask until ready to use. Has to be wrapped in something tho, I use tights but other people use finger bandages or cling film (needs stabbed with grip wire or knife point).
