Catch report "Grace" 17th March

Left Royal Quays at 7.30 Saturday morning for the first trip of the season and headed North to some marks and a couple of wrecks near the Yellow Can. The wind was fairly light from the West and the drift was quite slow but the amount of gill nets made it difficult to fish. We picked up a couple of reasonable Cod and headed a little way out where there were no nets or pot lines. We picked up a few Cod on each wreck and ended the day with a decent haul of 20 Cod to 6lb. I'm not sure the spring run has started because many of the fish were a tad scruffy and not the clean fresh Cod you would normally expect from the Spring run. Anyway, a decent start to the season and looking forward to the next trip.IMG00446-20120317-1619.jpg

Mind them's canny cods.....Well done lads see y soon eh!! Out and straight in to them eh, cant be bad. Looking forward to a couple of thpechaminths this year....Back to the lab to work on some secret weapons for the coming season!
Good luck to all.

Well done Drifter, that’s a good haul to start the season and it will only get better. We have "Wor Lass" antifouled, back in the water and raring to go so will probably see you out there.

Good result really. Wasn't long ago people were getting nowt at all on the wrecks. They aren't the light coloured fish you would expect, but they don't look dirty to me, I'd be happy with those all season long. Good report.:)
