We left the Tyne at apporox 7.15am and it wasn't a suprise to find the water very dirty. It was always our intention to give the wrecks a try but as an experiment we dropped a line beside the yellow can and picked up a couple of decent Cod on the first drift. We headed out and picked up a few fish on every wreck with the Tracy wreck probably the pick of the bunch. Visibility was very poor and we were soon relying 100% on our instruments for direction and wreck location. During the trip we came upon a magnificent tall ship which we just had to stop and admire although we didn't manage to get her name. We reached our quota by lunchtime and returned stacks of Cod and Ling although we kept one decent Ling because we felt it may challange the Royal Quays leader board. As it happens, the Ling was 17lb after gutting which is slightly behing the current leader. The Mackerel were a little scarce but when we found them they were plentiful and on the large side. We found the water still dirty up to 10 miles out so o
n balance I feel baited lines won the day with pirks just picking up the odd fish and shads doing nothing.
