Hi mate,
I've had one for a couple of years now. I only use it for clean ground - beaches mainly, but have used it from piers as well.
Excellent rod......very well made and well finished off. Easy to cast with, but not suitable for pendulum casting. However it will give you a good distance very smoothly, with no 'slop' at the end of the swing. Copes well in wind and tide, and bite detection is also very good.
Mine cost £200 new, but you might pick a good second hand one up on e-bay.
My only 'gripe' with it, is the spigot joint can stick. Better that though than have it loose. I now carry a pair of rubber gloves in the car, so I can grip each section easier when taking it appart.
Don't think it would be very suited for rock fishing, if fishing over very rough ground.
