chieftain trip cancelled

Which trip u on about mate? I spoke to Michelle 2nite and they just got back from a 94 hour jaunt. Is it a weather thing or not enough ppl ?

Hello, Stickler! Yes, there are other gutted people out there - us!

Alas, I guess you drew the short straw for this month. We\'ve been having such a lovely time at sea lately and were really looking forward to more of the same.

The trip was indeed fully subscribed, with nine of our favourite regulars due on board, as well as three anglers who were new to us, and who we were looking forward to meeting for the first time.

We never cancel trips lightly. We absolutely hate disappointing anglers, and messing up all their careful plans. However, we also don\'t want to take anglers out to sea in bad weather when they are going to be uncomfortable and their fishing adversely affected.

When John studies the weather charts and forecasts, sometimes it is a tough call - \'damned if you do, damned if you don\'t\'. However, on this occasion there was no\' fine line\' choice to be made - it was obvious we had to cancel.

I\'ve just checked the BBC shipping forecast, and this is that it currently reads:
AND NOW THE SHIPPING FORECAST ISSUED BY THE MET OFFICE, ON BEHALF OF THE MARITIME AND COASTGUARD AGENCY, AT 1130 ON WEDNESDAY 21 JUNE 2006
THERE ARE WARNINGS OF GALES IN FORTIES CROMARTY FORTH TYNE DOGGER IRISH SEA ROCKALL MALIN HEBRIDES BAILEY AND SOUTHEAST ICELAND

THE GENERAL SYNOPSIS AT 0700 LOW HEBRIDES 980 EXPECTED VIKING 989 BY 0700 TOMORROW

THE AREA FORECASTS FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS

VIKING NORTH UTSIRE SOUTH UTSIRE SOUTHERLY 5 TO 7 BECOMING CYCLONIC 4 OR 5. RAIN. MODERATE OR GOOD, OCCASIONALLY POOR AT FIRST

FORTIES CROMARTY FORTH TYNE DOGGER SOUTHWEST VEERING WEST 5 TO 7, OCCASIONALLY GALE 8 AT FIRST. SHOWERS. MODERATE OR GOOD

FISHER GERMAN BIGHT HUMBER SOUTHWEST 5 TO 7. SHOWERS. GOOD

We never give a damn about rain predictions, but the wind state is of paramount importance to us in this line of work. As I write this, the trees in our yard are going wild! Not that that is significant, really, as at times there can be a lot of wind on land and none in the part of the North Sea where we would be fishing - or vice versa.

Anyway, here\'s hoping that the winds clear quickly, and we can soon accommodate you on a trip on which we enjoy perfect weather - and fishing - conditions.

Kind regards,
Michele
