Circle hooks

Look canny expensive to buy. Anyone know where to get them cheap and whether to go for full circle or semi-circle?

Tried the semi-circle hooks from Veals in size 2 for flounders. Limited test so far but not that impressed. ok for baiting small crab baits but tend to rip the ragworm baits on the eye. One snapped in a smallish snag but not enough use yet to see if they hook in the mouth yet often enough.

Jimbob,i used the varivas semi circles in varies sizes down in wales during the summer and they were really good,most fish hooked in the scissors area so easy to get the hooks out,very sharp and very strong and not to expensive,only available from veals mail order

Sounds like they eliminate the problem of gut - hooked fish, Gordon (?).

Do they reduce the number of smaller fish taking the hook?

I\'ve just ordered some from Veals. Don\'t start fishing till this w/e. Will let you konw how I get on

i caught all my whitings on them last monday,some were lip hooked
some were down abit

i will be using them next monday aswell

Got all sizes of fish on the size two\'s Tony from !/2lb bream to 12lb bullhuss,even had a 30lb+tope that had taken a small whiting,only a few fish were hooked a bit deeper and that was the doggies.the only thing that straightend a hook was a dolphin took 200yrds of line before the hook came out
