Fished Claxheugh, South Hylton yesterday. Only stayed a few hours before i had to pick the bairn up. Ended up with 3 flounders.
With bait left over from this afternoon, at 10pm, 2 hours before high tide, i decided to give Roker Pier a go. The sea was pretty flat, so i headed for the roundhead. There was a couple of lads fishing behind the concrete wall, not sure if they caught anything as they packed up shortly after i set up. I thought it might be a waste of time with me being the only one on. How wrong i was. My first cast mustn't have hit the bottom when, it started knocking with a Dab. Four more casts produced a further 4 Dabs, a Whitey, then a final Dab concluded my days fishing. So with 3 flounders, 6 Dabs and 1 Whitey, it wasn't a bad day. All were returned apart from the flounders, as they were deep hooked and went home for our lass' dads dog. I left at 2.45am ready for my bed.
I tried mussel, bluey, blacklug, with the majority of the fish getting caught on ragworm tipped with macky.
