Do a lot of cliff like fishing with little access ability at the bottom so I'm looking for the best type of drop net or other type of fish landing equipment hate to lose a gud'n on the lift all ideas taken on board and am willing to have a go making one with the right guidence a d would have to be lightish as I'm always on the move any help would be appreciated cheers

wider the better keeps the guide ropes further apart so the fish slips in easier and movement of sea and wind hoy some weight in the bottom

To use a drop net on ya own from a cliff is a nightmare trying to hold a rod lower a net bad conditions does not sound good to me lol but imagine having a pig on holding a rod with one hand?

not sure how to make it but the last one I saw used was on Blyth pier, it was made from a old racing wheel with the spokes taken out, net attached around the wheel and weighted down, it had three ropes attached on the top leading to one long rope for to drop it down to water, it worked well and better still if there were two people. like I said no idea how to make it but I can't be that hard.

Google, whitby sea anglers flying gaffs

Some info how the lads further south use them on places like bempton and boulby cliffs which are some of the highest cliffs in England.

Think either flying gaffs or poles are used.

Louis how you managing at mo fishing from cliffs, could you not improve on your current method. I've never tried cliff fishing mate, but I live a Ryhope so should really!

Well my heaviest fish is only 3lb so haven't really needed one as only fished properly last year ie competitions but I'm forever the optimist for this year mate I normally lie my rod down and hand ball the fish up using the rod half over the cliff as big phil says

sounds dodgey lol but I suppose 'he who dares' good luck if ya find a good device let us know!!

It's not as dodgey as you think it's just literally the tip hanging over the keep the fish off the cliff then you just pull the line through the eyes I wouldn't risk anything like that for a fish mate
