hi all!!:)
i fancy having the reel further down the rod!
my question is this can i buy some coasters and fit them to my existing rod
even though it has a standard reel seat:confused::confused:
just worried that the line coming off the reel mite catch the original seat:o or
should i not worry about it:D:D:D

If its just to try I wouldn't worry about it as long as the line clears the old reel seat should be fine if you are concerned about the line catching you could always wrap the old reel seat in electricians/sparkies tape but normally the line balloons off the rod so should be fine

ive got some electricians tape so ok there!
will start out with some light flicks out just to be sure but like you say i shouldnt have a problem!!
cheers mate!:):):)

When i need to fish at distance i use the reel down the butt for pendulm casting and have never had any problems with the line catching the fuji reel seat which is fixed higher up the butt.

Because there is no rings on the butt i fix the reel to the opposite side of the butt so the line passes over the back of the seat and not the front where the reel would sit

Hi russell, this is my honest opinion but I personally would not bother with coasters,I'd get a moveable reel seat and keep moving it until your comfortable with with your casting,I bought some coasters and found them bulky and irritating, just couldn't get away with them at all,I also have a century reel seat and it is like half reel seat and half coaster and find that awkward!!! Might just be me prefering a reel seat but I'd never buy another set, shame you didn't post this 2 weeks ago as I've just gave the coasters away, yer could of had them!!
Hope this helps in some way...... Like I said that's just what I think of them...everyone to there own and that!!!!:p

I position the coaster on the century reel seat at as near 90 degrees with respect to the reel as I can, I find this keeps it out of the way ok. But I fish reel up and have the coaster after the reel seat, never tried it the other way like

Take off the old reel seat and replace with a sliding one then you can move it up or down anytime you want, much better than coasters.

Not saying that the coasters you mention are no good but the word cheap sends alarm bells ringing. I have coasters in my bag for emergency purposes but there canny quality ones.

No problem mate,I hope you can get away with them!! Let me know when you get them and see what you think!!!! Probz just me that can't get away with the things!!
