Cod on the drift

Hi everybody, Got afloat at half 8 this morning and straight out to my favorite inshore wreck with hardly a breath of wind . the drift was very slow on the last of the flood,so dropped a single hook rig down baited with ragworm, (the lugworm didn't make it), and hooked into a codling within 5 seconds about 4lb, quickly followed by another. Most of the fish were cod up to about 5.1/2lb. with a few pouting thrown in keeping the bites going. It was half past ten now, I had 12 fish, and a rib full of divers arrived, I carried on fishing, only for one of them saying, "there's divers down hear" as if saying you should stop fishing. Don't know what the rules of the sea are regarding that situation, but I was hear first. Anyway, the breeze was just picking up from the southeast along with the ebbing tide, so I headed inshore to gut my fish and sea how the boats fishing around the can were doing. They were catching too, so all the signs are good.:):)
Some pics of today.

well done on the fish mate, i'm not sure on this but if you were there first then the divers cant say anything really.

Youve got just as much rite to be there as the divers. When i fish up st abbs ive had them pull on my line and moan and groan, but the sea belongs to all of us so just tell them to fof.

arthur, the fishing and the report and the pictures mate excellent ........

the divers ...... an absolute bag of sh1te and should be keel hauled thrashed and taken to a dark place for even dreaming that they had any right in front of you to be on any particular wreck ........ :D

I've been there mate ......... and stayed ......

:)No Arthur,i've been bad with a stomach bug :( and had to pick my son up from the airport as well :(. Having a trip up the Derwent tomorrow though , bad stomach or not :). Plenty time yet, i'll let you catch the tiddlers and i'll wait for the big ones to arrive later..:D:D.

Seriously though, good to see you doing so well with the bait..

Just as you described Norm, they arrived never said a word, marker went in. It was obveouse i was drift fishing the wreck,(that makes a change) and only half a nod when I declared I was leaving.
The wife thinks I look a total wally in that hat. (sorry Wally):confused::D:rolleyes:

Nice catch report, the morning was by far the better part of the day..yer tried your fav wreck after the divers went but not a think..guess you either caught them all or the divers moved them on.

Nice one Arthur - we were on a wreck just south of the Tyne last year when we could see a boat speeding right for us...t'was a boat laden with divers. On that occasion they waited until we moved on (after Norman made a couple more drifts than he'd perhaps originally intended though :D)

"there's divers down hear" more fool them when there’s lengths of line with hooks at the end. I wouldn’t start to fish a wreck if there was already a dive boat there and expect them to either wait or bugger off if I was there first.

Anyway, it looks like it didn’t put the fish off. Lots of boats were out round the can earlier today until the wind picked up; you chose the best time of day for the weather.
