Colision at sea

Had a few drifts over a wreck with a couple of other boats on the same wreck. Eventually the wind and tide made the drift too fast so used the drouge. We, my mate Ken, decided when the other boats left, to anchor over the wreck. Soon another boat came along and drift fish without any problems, but then another boat arrived, went uptide of us and started his drift towards us, I shouted we were at anchor but obviously didn't understand. and within second was right on top of us. His boat a large heavy 22-24ft boat landed sideways onto my bow with a hellova thump wich bent my front anchor roller,:( dont know what the damage was to his boat, but I would be checking the fibre matting. He eventually reversed off and not even a sorry. I had a large dooker float, kindly given to me by Chris, Baccarruda, on diplay at the bow, but he mustn'd of seen that either.:confused: Anyway, we ended up with only 6 fish, the best a ling taken by Ken, about 5lb.:)

Well done again Arthur :), shame about your bow roller :(, that guy must be blind not to have seen you . Hopefully that buoy i gave you might have taken the sting out of the collision, will the roller straighten up or is it badly bent ?

I think it's die cast alloy, so not sure if it will straighten up, mind it's only slightly bent. I may take it off tomorrow and have a go at it.
How did you get on fluf chucking today?

Big Tel is the fluff chucker Arthur, i'm more of a chuck it out and sit back, type trout fisherman. We managed 11 between us, would have liked to have been on the boat, but had really bad stomach pain for a few days so played it safe and stayed on dry land...:)

Yeah Arthur, they were Rainbows and had one small brownie, power bait and worm did the damage, there wasn't much at all on the fly from the anglers we spoke to.

Was you displaying an Anchor Ball ?

If not then he would have been in the right i am sorry to say

this happens a lot down the south coast and the yatchies always win the argument

i always display one when at anchor

Sean

very good point about anchor ball:)must say im thinking if he cant see a bloody boat, not much chance of spotting a ball, too close and not paying attention coupled with no seamanship skills comes to mind:):) could have put a white flare up too and tried to make radio contact, important thing nobody injured
