Every time i cook my catch it curls up in the pan! any idea how to stop this! have tried scoring the skin!!
I skin, batter & deep fry mine! yum yum!

And why would any one even think of eating a slimy rockling wieghing in at 4oz's
It's a good sign if it curls up. It means the fish hasn't been through rigor-mortice and the muscles haven't relaxed ready for decomposition. Yum-yum.![]()
Some fish like haddock and mackeral, are best over the gunwhale and into the pan,but cod imho taste better after rig has set in , taken out of the fridge after a day or two,brought to kitchen temp before frying/cooking. Decent size cod taste better if they have been frozen for a few weeks. everybody has their own ways i suppose. Wallsendo youv'e been watching too mutch ray mears lol.poor little rocklings
