I saw some huge rockling down Taylor's Fish Shop at N Shields Quay a while back. Two of them for sale to eat and not all that cheap. They were labelled as "Rockfish" but I'm pretty sure they were rocklings - maybe about 2lb each. Considered buying them and then remembered all the slimy gunk that theyre covered in when you unhook them and thought better of it....
....can't be much worse than jellied eels that cockneys swear by - if youve never tried them...don't! - slimy, chewy and tastes muddy.
