Cracking off!

Fished the open yest in the river and a bloke next to me cracked off. His rig smashed into my box and my New Tronix rig box went flying skywards! Now this lad wasn't pendulum casting but was slashing at the lead under his rod tip and therefore not performing the cast properly. The main point of this was that he wasn't using a shockleader! :o

Now i know accidents do happen but u must minimise the risks wether it be an overhead thump to a fishing pendulum. Everyone should know this by now and there are NO EXCUSES for not using a shockleader in a crowded area.

Be safe and learn to cast properly and always use a shockleader to minimise the risks.

Also to add a point to the above, the amount of poorly tied knots I've come across on old rigs etc found on the beaches.....the knot is probably the weakest point to a line/shockleader and if not tied correctly then your asking for trouble.

A quick tug on the line/shockleader before every cast also helps find any weak points.
