Set off for Craster today fishing on Dougie Hogg's boat with an 8am start.
The fog was quite thick at times on the drive up there, but on arrival it had cleared to leave wall to wall sunshine.
Left the harbour into a slight swell and hopes were high for a good day.
Only a few hundred yards out we were dropping our assortments of daylights, hokias etc: into 50ft of water. A few small codling came up quite soon.

Fish soon stopped comming in, so we moved a bit further with a few more small codling comming in, but things wer realy slow.

We then moved off a couple of miles with a couple more fish, the best just under 4lb

Moving on about every half hour trying to find fish with the next fish just over 4lb, which was the heaviest of the day and took the sweep money, took a photo of it and the captor, but musn't have taken as I can't find it.

So, to sum it all up, a bit dissapointing fish wise, with the best bags of about 8 keepers. Most fish falling to prawn baited hokais/daylights etc.
Headed back in at 3-20pm passing close to Dunstonburgh castle dominating the skyline.

Hello Arthur,
I was out on the "Guide Me" from Seahouses, 10:00am to 2:00pm, and we could see you to the South of us. It was a cracking day to be out though wasn't it :)

Fishing wise it wasn't great but we had a few, the lad next to me had eight and kept six, I had five but only kept two. Most people on the boat had three or four I reckon and like you say prawn baited daylights seemed to be the best tactics. I tried a shad for a while but only had one take and I managed to shake that off on the way up!!

Great photos too Arthur, regards Ian

Looked like a nice day. Is his new boat ready yet?

Were out this week so hopefully the weather will hold and the fish come in.
