You can fish off the pier into the channel. Never fished the black hole so have no info. I mainly fish out of Craster on Douggies boat.

North of the harbour on the skeers is best for the red cod. Casting isn't an issue. My best fish last summer was around a 50yd lob out into a kelp filled gulley. Loads of marks up that way but what I do is have a cast and if I get nothing move. The fishing tends to start around the end of June.

Its hitty missy mate like everywhere. I would avoid high water so you can get on the rocks and get some idea what you are casting into. The channel in the harbour is really snaggy. Black hole is a huge gully south of the harbor close to Cullernose point. Snaggy but not too bad. When I have fished it I got my sinker back maybe 2 out 0f 3 chucks. There are marks up there which are worse. If you search on the forum hear you will get loads of advice but I would suggest to go up at low tide and have a bung into any hole which takes your fancy.

The harbour channel can produce nice flounder and good coalfish in the summer along with them pests mackeral. Walk north towards the castle you have Liverpool hole and Nova Scotia with an evening ebb tide with the sun going down can be very productive with my dad having some good bags and cracking kelpies. Head further north you can plonk yourself on a rock edge cast 30 - 40 yards max even less and you can pull some cracking fish out. Cushtat steel is just before you approach the castle and can also hoy fish out.

the blackhole through the summer months is great for Pollack and red cod on the lure the Pollack go crazy just as it gets dark its a fish a cast that's on soft and metal lures and at any stage of the tide :)
