Well lads we got out last Wed 27th April with Douggie. 10 of us in the party. Fishing was hard work with best bait being baited hockeyes.
I had three small Codlings and put two back. Kept one over 2lb. Best fish on the day went to Kev who had a larger codling-not sure of weight but am told 6lb.That was about it size wise. Most fish caught by one angler six codling.
My mate Wolfy pulled up a canny Wrasse.I was burnt from the sun on my head.Douggie gave us a tray of crabs so we all got to take home some eaters.
Tried shads but no luck.

Mick. Nice to be out but that swell was quite big.

Its a strange spot that, you either catch them like mackerel or have a hard day..at least you made it out am sick in the house.

a few of us were out with douggies son last weekend mick, pretty much the same story. everyone managed a couple of keepers but they certainly aren't there in the no.s that the smaller private boats farther south are reporting. fish ran to around 5lbs but mostly just size and a lot of these went back. was wierd to be out and not catching mackeral or coalies or much else for that matter. species caught:- cod, 2 undersize ling, 1 pout and the biggest granny anyone had ever seen. great day all the same with blue skies and a flat sea, topped off with a pint in boozer overlooking the harbour, perfik think we'll give it another month before venturing out again

I was surprised we did,nt pull up any Macky but we did hit a shoal of coalie.
I had my camera but left it in the car.

Next trip out again with Douggie 18th May------------and i,m looking forwards to the trip.

Still a little early up there Mick, it's usually well into May before they make a proper showing, but at least it's a start.

Yeah it was a good day, well pleased with the biggy of the day. I had my camera in my pocket but forgot all about it. Caught a couple on daylights, one keeper one to go back. I got the other three on Shad with a second hook baited with squid. Damn shame I can't make the May trip unless someone drops out. My next one isn't until August...ish.

How come you did,nt make it-you organised the trip as our club secretary. Fingers crossed someone drops out for you.
