I've read threads on here about it showing for the odd bass in summer, but what about this time of year onwards for codling etc? Anyone fished it in the winter? cheers Gaz.

used to fish it years ago not been down for ages, we fished at the bottom of the steps down from the caravan park and further along towards steetly pier just down from the golf course the beach fishes best a couple of hours either side of low water

I had 5 good size bass down there 2 year ago just rag baits 30/40 yard lobs, one after the other on single rag, what a session it was never been back yet though 😕

it can fish well for cod just after a blow. fish over low and look for the sand gullies. you can definately over cast here so just cast to the middle of the gullies. you will see where the back of the gully is by the lifting white water.

i fished it a lot years ago but you dont here of many fishing it now.

It was this time of year i had bass like never gad cod id fish more twin steps or london rock around that area for winter cod

Cheers lads, I'll give it a try. Probably fish two rods with one close in. Worth a try as its just down the road from me. Cheers, Gaz.

I remember watching a guy down there catching flatties on a spinner, also blackhall beach and cliff tops a bit further north fishes well during the winter

Used to be a very good winter Cod ground years ago, still worth a try, my best cod mark was straight out from where the old life guard station was, low water mark best at night, for me, 2hrs down and 2hrs backs back, changed a lot with gullys shifting over the years. I would use heavy 8oz sinkers without grip leads and let the sinker roll into the gullys, using pennel 4/0 hooks, caught some of my best cod there on runny down and rag, many years ago.
