Fished the Hall beach at Seaham today from 10:00 until 15:00. Put heavy rod out with a big cocktail bait and wasn't sure what set up to use with my scratching rod.
In the end I decided on a wishbone rig for flatties. As it was a draw in the derby match at the weekend I fished one hook topped with black and white beads, and one ,you guessed it with red and white beads.

First cast and after just a few minutes in the water a small flattie graced the beach. 1/0 to the red and white beads
Then four and a half hours of nice weather and not much else..........
Last cast and the scratcher rod went off again, was it going to be a repeat of the last gasp equalizer? Nope, another small flattie to the red and white beads making it 2/0 to the red and whites!

Now, this was at seaham!!! If I fished the same rig at tynemouth would the fish have preferred the hook with the black and white beads above it?

At the end of the day I didn't blank, and the weather was nice. Baits used, Rag, mackeral and squid.
