Dubai - 1st week of the 'winter' season

Hi all, I think we can now say the fishing season is under way here in the UAE and we've had a hell of a start! the temperature have finally dropped from the summer 50's to the winter 30's and the game fish have returned! With my parents in town me and my father had the excuse we needed and enjoyed three days of exceptional fishing,

Makes a change to see the Burj in the background instead of Whitley lighthouse :D , enjoy the cool , err hot ....... you know ;)

Hey Norm, finally I have something to post, its been a long long summer this year!! Now we have 6 months of chasing the predators whilst they stay inshore! I'll put the occassional post up to keep people thinking about the coming summer! Well done on a great summer boating!

Cracking report and some great fighting speices there.

Quick question.....do the locals fish? are is it not considered the to do thing over there.
 
Hi Rich - Dubai, infact all of the UAE depended on fishing and pearl diving for years. Fishing is still a very large industry in the gulf however the construction of the palm islands and the world project stirred up the water so bad many of the seasonal predator species stayed well off shore towards Iran, Pakistan and off the east coast of Oman.

Now the sea's are clear again the fish have returned however fishing is normally only done by ex pats for sport as the locals now live their life of luxury on their 'black gold' riches.

In addition to Dubai & Abu Dhabi fishing we are lucky enough to have Musandam In Oman (Similar to the Norwegian Fjords) only with sunshine and huge Giant Travally's, we also have Fujairah (approx 1.5hrs from Dubai) here we target Sailfish, Dorado King & Queenfish, both venues are a car drive away and untouched interms of fishing!

If anyone is heading out this way then please drop me a mail, I will be happy to point you in the right direction if I can,
