I am wanting to go fishing and thinking of taking my bait rod. What is the ground like up there? I have never fished there before and will be targetting red cod if possible, so where abouts in the mark would be best for that? and i am assuming peeler crab will be the best bait? but if i couldnt get hold of that, what could i use instead? Also if anyone has directions on where to park, and then how to get to the mark, it would make my trip alot easier:) Thanks

park in craster (£2 all day in tourist board car park) then you walk the rest on the path leading to the castle. I took my spinning gear down ther on monday mornin and sea was ridiculous, could get close enough to fish.

If you do like andy says, when you get to the castle fence swing a right and follow the fence to the sea there is a canny gully there, i fished there saturday standing on the rocks by the gully nice kelp bed down there i reckon ;) i used running ledgers(cheers for the advice on them wallsendo) got snagged every cast but only lost 1 rig, straightened i few hooks like am assuming they were hooked into the kelp. Anyway caught a nice Red kelp Cod on razor & muscel, also had rag and lug but didnt even get a hit on them.
