Well today we had a little run out onto the lovely golden sands of Embleton beach on the Northumberland coast.
The Comp was fished between 12 noon and 5pm on a rising tide in bright sunshine by six adults and one junior. A few of the lads had to drop out, due to working away,at the recent problems in London and a few on holiday.
Things looked to be on the up as young Luke Ainsley brought in a small Dab on his first chuck and registering first on the score card, but things didn't go as planned.
The fish although only around 20 m from the shore,were quite allusive and were being very shy in biting.
Peter Chadwick pulled out all the stops and ended up with six fish which included a 32cm flounder and a 27 cm Plaice giving him a score of 102 points, closely followed by David cool hand Thynne also with sIx fish for 58 points. Third was young Luke Ainsley with 5 fish for 45 points and beating his Father Ian in the process.(gutted)
Can I just add that Mr Chadwick was using a three hook flapper with each hook length containing the biggest flounder spoon I have ever seen in history, they must have been the size of a desert spoon, BUT. They done the job for him.
The only excuse I can come up with today is, due to the large amount of scantly clad females walking around today on the beach my bite detecting vision was trained elsewhere in an attempt to prevent the ladies from stealing any of the lads gear. Honest it's the truth yer worships.
Disappointment of the day, was the non appearance of the small turbot which showed up at this time last year.
Most disappointed face of the day was Mr Sirrets when his mentor Mr Ainsley pulled out a small flattie last chuck to overtake his position by one point lol.
Special thanks to Terry from Reelsport in South Shields who supplied some cracking bait for the lads,and even made arrangements for it to be delivered on route to the venue. Cracking Service Terry.
