Early season Amble marks

My first shot at early season fishing out of Amble is proving a bit daunting , I'm not sure where I should be heading and it's a big sea :D
Should I be fishing the same marks I had success on last summer or somewhere else? Will the wrecks fish this early or do I look for hard ground? , close in or far out?
Any ideas?

Ray

I used to be in Amble marina a few years back, best marks this time of year were always back of Island in about 50 ft of water ... mainly towards the north of the Island.

Later as the spring codling appear I found cresswell skeers excellent.

hope this helps

Norm

Thanks Norman , I fish the back of the island every time out , it's a strange place , sometimes we catch all kinds of fish , other times you'd think there wasn't a fish in the place .
You reckon the hard ground marks like the island and creswell skeres will be better than heading further out to sea early on then ?

Ray

Yeah Ray, wrecks only really show when bait fish appear (mainly mackerel) so give it a month or two ...

Norm

Cheers again Norman , I'll give Cresswell skeres a bit of stick for the next few outings then ;) and when I hear of mackerel being caught I'll go back to last years hunting grounds.

Hiya Ray,

We had our first fish at the northern Hills on the 27th of April last year and the trips off before that resulted in blanks! Early on we have always found the fish show South first either as Norman says at Creswell or Hadston.Crab, fresh or frozen really did make a difference up until around may. We have still got a few bits and bobs to finishe before she goes in the water this season so leave a few for us!Good Luck.

Cheers Graham , I don't think you need worry about us taking all the fish lol. We get a few , but we aren't going to empty the place , we aren't that good at it lol., we are learning though.
I'm just going to keep going out whenever the weather is decent and keep heading south till the fish start to show then I'll have a look in some different directions , I'm really looking forward to it.
Have to find some crab now ;)
