Sat in the boat at 10am watching other boats leaving the marina but I was so tired from a bad nights sleep with joint pains I couldn't make my mind up whether to go out or not , made myself a cup of hot chocolate and sat some more until at about 11 till the urge got more powerful than the tiredness and I cast off the lines.
First time out on a flat sea so I opened her up and she hit 34mph :) I eased it back to 24 and headed out to the northern hill , fish everywhere on the sounder and a few in the boat and I decided to take in a wreck before heading down to Cresswell , caught my first wreck codling of the season on my second drift but there wasn't much showing down there and after returning a pout set off to Cresswell.
3 drops down put 9 fish in the boat :o , it was like mackerel fishing :D , any tiredness I had was well forgotten.
No big fish today , best was about 4.5lb , but there was plenty of them.
I've got my camera on the boat , but I didn't take any pics , I'll write 1000 times "I must take some pics when I'm out fishing so the lads on NESA can see what I've been up to" before I go out again , maybe I'll remember to use the camera then. :red:
Spent over 2 hours filleting fish and cleaning blood and guts up , I think I'll start fishing catch and release

Tiredness kills, but in your case..........fish. Good catch, just as well you pushed yourself. Days like these are rare, total calm.:D

well worth the effort ray nice one:D:D:D hope you left some for ""the enemy""on sunday:D:D:D

Drift over that shoal with a dozen rods down off a charter boat and it will be mayhem , when I say it was like mackerel fishing , I'm not kidding , the lead didn't hit bottom before the rod was bucking and reeling in felt just like a full house of mackie pulling in all directions only heavier:), three drops in a row that happened , 9 fish in about 9 minutes :D . I could see them on the sounder too , I often catch fish with no signs of them on the sounder , but I think when they are showing like that ......... there are lots of them;)
My guess is you will have happy satisfied punters come Sunday afternoon;)

Three at a time! Nowt like rubbing it in Ray!
I might have had a line wet tonight myself and caught three garfish on freelined squid whilst we are sat at anchor waiting for our next job, but fishing isn't allowed on the ship I am on at the minute so never mind!;)
Don't get that new shiney boat too clarty mate!!
32 days until hometime, I bet its going to feel like a lifetime with all these cracking catch reports!

Nice on Ray, the decision to go out paid off. Some days apathy visits but if you can shake it off long enough the rewards remind you of why you keep coming back for more.

Hitting three fish on a drop is exciting enough and then you add a blast at 34mph across the waves, that must have woken you up. :)
