Woke up at 4 am and decided to go fishing :D , forcast was for light winds so off I went to the marina only to hear the dreaded surf crashing on Warkworth beach when I got out of the car ......... I hate that sound:(
Set off anyway through quite a hefty swell that kept the speed down between marks and had me stumbling about a bit while I was fishing them :red:
Plenty fish about , had cod ,ling, coalies and a pollock , the mackerel were there , I could feel them attacking my pirks and shads on the way down , but I didn't try to catch any and succeeded :D
I filled a box with nice plump cod of about 3-4lb and put many more back in search of a biggie , but I couldn't find one anywhere , and believe me I put some miles in today ;)
The drift got silly in the afternoon and I'd done a lot of wrecks and was losing a lot of tackle with the speed I was dragging it over the bottom so I called it a day around 3pm and headed in.
Heard an interesting conversation on the radio , Boulmer sea king asking a fishing boat if they could winch a man down on to her deck for a bit of practice , the bemused fisherman on the fishing boat sounded like he wasn't sure if it was a wind up " Err , no problem mate , I'll shift some of the fish boxes and make a bit of space for him , just do what you want" :D
The chopper had flown alongside me for a while a few minutes earlier , I'm glad he didn't want to winch anybody down onto my deck , I hadn't tidied up!:o

we had the same problems with the drift today as well in the afternoon, and the swells were a decent size, but we love owt like that hehe.

Sounds like you had a good day Ray :), the sea looked spot on this morning as we passed over the Wansbeck on the spine road, going to WORK :(.

Well done on the catch Ray, the forecast seems all over the place this week! That sound of the breakers at Warkworth always is a bugger! Especialy after a 0330 alarm! I am trying to get off this week but with the forecast constantly changing its a bit difficult to arrange!

Graham.
