Embleton or somewhere else??

Afternoon!

Me and a mate are thinking about heading up to the Dunstanburgh/Embleton area on saturday over High Tide.

Anyone had any luck there at high tide or is it best over low water?
Is fishing off the bottom at Dunstanburgh any good?

I've seen a few posts about using Prawns for bait, any tips or advice for this spot or any ideas for an alternative place would be great! :)

I'm still pretty new to this so will be using 11ft 6" bass rod and also a 10ft pier rod.

Like i said any help would be appreciated!

Cheers
Chris

I've fished up there a bit. Basically, the beach will give you flounders to worm and fish baits but LW is better than HW. If it's not rough then your rods will be ok cos you don't have to cast far.

If you fish the rocks and cliffs at Dunstanburgh your gear is not good. you want tough 13ft-15ft rods because the ground is very rough. if you can get your hands on better rods, then try it: use worm, mussel, crab, squid - that sort of thing might get you coalies or codling.

Also, be good about litter cos the patience of the people who own the castle is running thin with some anglers leaving all sorts of stuff behind.

Hope that's useful.:)

Thanks for the advice mate! Going go and give it a bash! See what happens! :)

Yeah i've been spinning at Dunstanburgh before with my mate and there's stuff all over, its annoying because it gives us all a bad rep! We always make sure we take everything away!

Hopefully i'll get some photo's of some nice fish! :D

Cheers

Don't waste your breath walking along the castle in the winter mate fish the rock edges to the left and right of craster much more productive
