Sad loss - but i bet he will get a tidy sum for the amount of land he still has left - he wont be out of pocket - £80 million ,is nothing in the property market - and the money this lot at 10 Downing St give away in Regeneration of areas will also help him towards his Sun Lounger in the tropics

sad indeed, I reckon we'll rue the day. Give it 30 years when oil's too pricey everyone will be wanting ships again, nuclear powered or summats

Mark ,i have spoke to a few lads who worked the pits ,some of them pretty high up in the ranks ,and they have not heard of any ruling about the post you came back with - EU not allowing the UK to mine Coal - but agree about nuclear power ,as long as the stations are built out at sea ,then nobody can complain about it being in their "Back Yard " - Apart from Sponge BoB and Crabby

coal mines are restricted on the basis of the 'common market' and set price for coal across europe. because european pits wouldn't be able to compete on price, they have to sell at a lower price and then get a subsidy...
except...
the EU then capped subsidies to coal mines.
there were still 2 out here in the sticks till a couple of years back, employed maybe a dozen men apiece, selling the anthracite round the doors locally. Were told they weren't allowed to do that, so closed
