Engine block coolant (HEAT EXCHANGER) flush and change

Does anyone bother putting anything more than water and antifreeze in the coolant system for an inboard? alot of info regarding ant rust chemicals and sludge stopper liquids etc on other forums...It has been 2 years since i last changed mine and thats the max time the Nanni book states before a change should be conducted so i have always stuck to that, plus the coolant is no longer a nice yellow colour so its due a flush and change just unsure if its worth purchasing something abit more than the standard anti-freeze and fresh water re-top up (for heat exchanger)

Any opinions be welcomed before i have the test trip next weekend.

Richy, I only use water and blue antifreeze, you probably already know not to mix different colours of antifreeze. Yellow antifreeze is the “Universal” version that can be used in both aluminium blocks or ones with steel and brass. Antifreezes are colour coded to show the additives they contain, most have rust inhibitors and stuff to protect the hoses so I cannot see any reason to add extra.
Do you just flush your engine or strip and clean the inside chambers of your heat exchanger? I’ve not stripped mine but read that the o-rings are listed as service items and cost a fortune.

I change my coolant at the end of the season along with oils n filters the anti freeze has the rust inhibiters built in and is important to the internals of the cooling system.
For the cost of the anti freeze why not dump it and replace with fresh coolant.

you know for a fact richie ya dint need antifreeze to catch fish ya will catch fish in the marina before ya go ,then come back and the boat be full if its got scotty on lol :D

Cheers

Well in the past i have just added the "yellow" anti-freeze with tap water but that was 2 years ago, no way am i changing cleaning the heat exchanger its a job in itself and would require new gasketts the lot so just draining/topping up with water running for 5mins and draining again before topping up with anti-freeze mix and i do have a 2ltr bottle of distilled water.

My engine block is a mix of cast, brass and ally
