You got a real steal there Tony - when I saw Reg's original post I was a bit gutted as I'd just spent my hard-earned on a new rod, new trolley and about £150's worth of bits & pieces, otherwise I'd have been in the car & through the tunnel like a shot! Pure old-school Penn quality - maybe a little bit heavier compared to modern reels but the insides are all bolted to a big brass plate and just about indestructible! A little bit fiddlier to service (watch the spring on the anti-reverse pawl) but well worth it I reckon. The "penny-slot" mag adjuster is a bit of a giggle compared to today's reels (especially for those who like to constantly twiddle their knob ) but I just set mine and leave it be on my 970 and it works fine.
Got myself a Fox Rockrunner Tony, at a very good price - wanted something shorter, but still reasonably powerful & with a nice tip for fishing the Tynemouth pier matches. Was nicely impressed with it on it's first outing and looking forward to trying it on the open shore as well as it seems like a cracking rod.
