you might not be getting the oil through the bearing casings mate, put the oil on and leave for a while so it seeps through and then it will slow the spool, warm up will also help penetration into the balls.
Don't slow down to much like or you'll kill the reel.

no mention of been a mag reel on your post does it say its a mag elite or is it the standard 6500 c3 ct elite blue in coulour ?.

you can use brake blocks as well as magnets with this reel ,if you not used to multipliers take to your local tackle shop or maybe one of your pals and ask them to have a look to see if brake blocks are in .i believe you are located south of the tees if more sunderland way i would look at it for you .no need to worry all easily solved.

put one or two blocks in reel and leave magnets full on .i would realy put two brake blocks in at least you can take one if it runs too slow.

Are they new reels or older ones, the newer reels you have to physically release the blocks, think they have 6 the older reels only have 2 blocks.Any way the mags should be enough to control it, will pm you mate.
