Had a few hours out in shields tonight after going out for a meal, I was fishing 2 rods, First rod casting around 15-20 yards with a 2 hook flapper and rag with the second rod casting at distance with blacks and bluey, From the off I was getting double shots of flounder close in and also pulled in a flounder on the other rod...It was flounder after flounder close in for the next 2 hours then pulled in a 5 bearded Rockling which I needed for the species hunt...I decided to load the rag on and have a couple more casts and again pulled in 2 more flounders but the rag was still pretty fresh so threw it back out about 15 yards for my last cast and within 5 minutes my rod went a bit crazy and slack lined so got a bit excited as I knew it wasn't a flounder and sure enough it was a Bass.
I was using small circle hooks as a pennell on the flapper which had a tiny coalie on so don't know if the Bass went for the rag on the coalie, I was happy either way, I finished with a total of 11 Flounders, 1 five bearded Rockling, 1 Coalie and a Bass in around 3 hours fishing
