Sorry but unimpressed every single one should have gone back till breeding age ... I have returned cod of 2 - 4lb with the future in mind those are hardly 1 year old fella ... ok this sounds a bit harsh but only an opinion sorry if offended and pleased you enjoyed your day out .... I know the European boats are doing much more harm to the stock than any shore angler but those are about a year old ...

End of the day all on legal size so nothing can be said, plus them man can feed his family for a few days with the, well done stane mate nice bag again

I know to take my 4 inch ruler the next time mate so if their not size I can put them back at the watersedge and we kept these as they were gut hooked and realesed another 8 fish bully for you letting your fish go

Good bag Stan, sounds like a great day out.

PS - How quickly Watersedge forgets, here is a historical post of his!

Cant tell ya exactly what we caught today
It was off Cullercoats beach
It was 6lb
It was in need of a licence
So won't tell ya but fought like fuk

Of course we let it go
:red:

Suggests he kept an illegal fish! :o

Actually, it's difficult to even say how big the fish are when there's no scale. Look at the lad with the nice brace other day - the way he's holding those fish make them look easy doubles!
Respect opinion like, but legal is legal and until the limit changes...
Personally I keep all cod a couple cm over size.

Nice bag anyway, bumper season for the rivers

i dont usually get involved with this type of discussion but hey fair play to the lad hes probably spent a fortune on bait and tackle so if he decides to keep a few why not id be more worried about gill netters or our european friends taking everything they catch,Oh and by the way those size ones always taste better.:)

Either the codling are small or that's a big whiting, on the other hand don't forget at one time the size limit for codling was 12" not 13.8"
