Went fishing on Roker Pier on monday night, first night time fishing in ages.
The sea conditions looked perfect for cod, but non showed up.
However after catching & releasing several small whities & flatties, my pulse raised when I saw my rod take a really good hit, I thought it was going to be my first decent cod of the season. But instead I was delighted to get my first ever dogfish. I didn,t know these where being caugt at Roker. The fish weighed about 2 1/2 lbs & I caught it on rag tipped with mackerel.
It was then safely returned.
Scared or what.
