fish id help

can any of you lads tell me what this fish i caught off blyth pier today is. Im thinkin some kind of granny fish but ive never seen these colours before. The neon blue in it was beautiful. Thanks in advance alan.

forgot to mention it was about 8 inches long and its eyes where neon blue

its a male.. dragonet.

it will have had a long thin dorsal fin. beautiful little fish, almost exotic and dont grow much bigger.

yes it did catcher and it was beautiful. Thats another one to the species list

Yes male dragonet, only caught 2 in my life both from Shileds pier trying for plaice.

ive only ever caught 1 of them,had a couple of cookoo wrasse and they do look tropical bright blues and greens!did you have much luck besides the dragonet?

had one myself from the huegh a ew year ago but the only one i seen since

they were quite common years ago off the heugh.

if you get a drab brown one it will be a female.

we didnt see any for a few years but in the last couple of years a few have been turning up again.
