Launched right on low tide at Cullercoats, not the best time. Headed off to Marsdon for a bit fishing first, found a wreck about three miles off with the first drift producing a small pollock about 2-1/2lb which came off on the surface after chasing the shad to about 40ft below when it hit.
Next couple of drifts produced nowt, so changed to two lugworm baited hooks. The first drift over resulted in a cod about 4lb.

Next drift produced this one about 6lb+

Finally, as I was pulling this one about 5ish, The airshow started with the arrival of a couple of powerful jets

so I headed over to where all the boats and yachts were anchored, amongst them, Richie on stingray.
There were long intervals of no aircraft activity and nothing on the flaty rod. Then the call came from the wife, we had been invited to a bbq at 4pm, so up anchored and headed back stopping now and then for mackerel to chuck on the barby.
Glancing back, I saw a Lancaster bomber with a Spitfire and Hurricane heading for Saltburn, fantastic sight.
Most of a bottle of red and a couple of pints down me neck soon after made it a canny day out:D
